Individually Sean Shi, Celine Liang, Brendan Ney, Allen Shen, and Kristine Zhang received an honorable mention. Stanford Mathematics Tournament – Regional/National (February) Two teams from Saratoga HS and one team from Redwood MS competed in Stanford Math Tournament. Unlike past three years, we did not place as a team. However, there were individual standouts. General Test: Celine Liang (2nd), Sean Shi* (3rd) Advanced Topics: Brian Wai (2nd) *won the tie-breaker over Brendan Ney Mandelbrot – Regional/National (March) For National level, Saratoga High School placed 18th place putting us in the top-tier. Brian placed tied for top 15th place. For Redwood Regional, Redwood MS placed 8th ranking among top-tier high schools. Sean Shi, Celine Liang, and Brendan Ney were individual standouts raking among top-tier students comprised mostly of high school students. There were three stand-outs Edward Dong and Brian Wai scored 35 out of 36, and Evan Ye scored 34 out of 36. We had two mathletes, who were absent on the day of the contest. Santa Clara Valley Mathematics Association Field Day – Regional (April) Saratoga High School placed 3rd place as a team, an improvement from last year's 4th place finish.

Overall individual ranking for RMS: Kristine Zhang (2nd), Brendan Ney (3rd), Nathan Ney (4th), and Celine Liang (7th) Mathcounts State: Redwood MS team, composed of Celine Liang, Brendan Ney, Sean Shi and Kristine Zhang, placed 1st in California Mathcounts. For Northern California, Celine placed 1st via a tie-breaker over Sean, who placed 2nd. They placed 2nd and 3rd for overall ranking for the state of California.
